Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake by Mazey Eddings 

My rating: 1 of 5 stars, DNF.

The premise sounded cute, but the book itself just wasn't for me. I didn't like Lizzie, at all. I know people with ADHD, and yes, it sucks, but Lizzie uses it as an excuse for EVERYTHING instead of trying to do something, anything about it. Yes, it's exhausting, but you still have to take responsibility for your actions instead of just passing it off as, "Oops, I have ADHD."

And in the wake of the Roe v Wade reversal, Rake's attitude feels icky and the whole, "Lizzie is the good girl who chose to keep her baby vs. the Evil Ex who had an abortion," really didn't sit well. STOP SHAMING WOMEN FOR MAKING THEIR OWN CHOICES!

Other Birds by Sarah Addison Allen 

My rating: 2 of 5 stars, it was okay.

I've enjoyed every book by Sarah Addison Allen, but this one was absolutely my least favorite of the bunch.

It just didn't connect with me the way previous books have. It didn't enjoy the characters in this book nearly as much. Maybe because there were so many of them, shoe horned into the story. And so many issues in there as well. From hoarding and mental health issues, to past sexual assault and growing up in a cult, to child neglect. And of course, they all come together in the Dellawisp, and help each other heal?

As multiple other reviewers have said, I felt like this book meandered from character to character, while never really fully developing each one or really combining them all in to one complete story, and then BAM! The last few chapters suddenly things start happening and everyone comes together and it all just fell flat for me.

All in all, it had a few lovely moments and Allen is fantastic at description. I hope this book marks her return to writing and that there will be more from her soon.

The Vanishing Type by Ellery Adams 

My rating: 3 of 5 stars, I liked it.

Book 5 in the series.

This has been a favorite series for me, but this is definitely not my favorite in the series. It felt a bit light and fluffy, despite the subject matter, and way too predictable. I do like the fact that Nora and the sheriff are getting closer, but I guess I felt with the Hester/Andrew relationship ups and downs that the whole book feels a bit romance-y with a side of obvious mystery. I like reading romance, too, but when I grab a mystery, if there's a romantic relationship, it should be the side element, not the main feature.

I do hope the series continues, because I truly do love the characters.

The Lights of Sugarberry Cove by Heather Webber 

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Every once in a while, you pick up a book that just grabs you and sucks you in and won't let you go until the very end. The Lights of Sugarberry Cove was one of those for me. I stayed up way too late because I HAD to finish it. I loved it! It had my emotions on a roller coaster, I bawled like a baby a few times, but I also laughed out loud at times.

It's got a touch of magic, but mostly it's about relationships and family, which is the real magic of the story. There's hope, love, and above all, healing.

Honestly, this may be my favorite book of the year, and a rare 5 star read.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars, I liked it.

Book 4 in the series.

I really like this series and the main characters with all their faults and character. I had a harder time with some of the the townspeople and their family values crap and witch hunt mentality. But Nora and The Secret, Book, & Scone Society stood up to it, and prevailed.

All in all, a pleasant, fast, read.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars I REALLY liked it.

I absolutely adored this book. It had a touch of magic and a whole lot of family secrets! I will admit, it took me a bit longer to get into this one then it did for me to get into Midnight at the Blackbird Café, but it was still a fantastic read. I loved the growth of Blue and Sarah Grace's friendship, as well as the growth of each woman individually. I've actually read it twice now, once when I first got it and again, just before publication date!

There's so much love in this book, so much charm and a dash of mystery too, and I just couldn't put it down.

As a gamer, I wanted to like it. But it bored me from the beginning and I finally gave up. Sierra was too freaking gullible and Tristan was an Ass. The author's writing was fine, I just couldn't get behind the characters.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars, I really liked it.

Fans of Sarah Addison Allen will love this book. It was a sweet story of a woman with the power to grant wishes, whether she wants to or not.

Rachel Monroe tries to run from her questionable gift, and ends up in Nowhere, North Carolina, where lost things have a habit of turning up and magic isn't really considered all that unusual.

In Nowhere, Rachel learns that maybe she can have a normal life after all, with friends, and even a possible romantic relationship with the cute guy next door.

This truly was an absolutely lovely story about second chances that I could not put down.
